AORP and Aveleda present unprecedented exhibition combining design and terroir
07/05/2025From 9 to 11 May, Alfândega do Porto will host the 3rd edition of Alfândega Joias, an event once again attended by the AORP – Associação de Ourivesaria e Relojoaria de Portugal. This year, the association’s participation takes on a new dimension with an unprecedented partnership with Aveleda, one of the most renowned wine houses in the Vinho Verde region.
Under the Portuguese Jewellery label, the AORP is presenting an exhibition that combines six national jewellery brands with six Aveleda wines – five white and one sparkling. The exhibition, conceptually curated, invites the public to discover affinities between jewellery design and the wine character of each reference, exploring themes such as origin, terroir, tradition and innovation.
Each of the six collaborations translates into an exclusive space where the jewellery dialogues with a wine: from the effervescent lightness of Espumante Bruto interpreted by Mel Jewel, to the expression of the Alvarinho grape variety in schist soils reflected in Amag’s creations, to the baroque elegance of Fernando Martins Pereira in tribute to Manoel Pedro Guedes wine.
The exhibition will be installed in the first space to the left of the Furnas Nascente entrance (Floor -1) of Alfândega do Porto and can be visited between 10am and 8pm on the three days of the event. The opening will include a special tasting on 9 May at 18h00.
For João Rothes, Secretary General of the AORP, this initiative ‘reinforces Portuguese Jewellery’s position as a platform for enhancing Portuguese jewellery, promoting dialogue with other creative worlds’. Filipa Albergaria, Aveleda’s brand manager, emphasises that ‘this journey between wine and art is based on sharing common values such as identity, origin and excellence’.
The exhibition features the brands AMAG, Claudiouro, Fernando Martins Pereira, Mel Jewel, Rosarinho Cruz and Tea & Oatcakes, which bring the best of Portuguese jewellery to the centre of the national creative scene – now in perfect harmony with Aveleda’s wines.
