The initiative proposes a differentiating wine tourism experience that combines contact with the agricultural landscape, historical and cultural context, and a commented tasting of its Madeira wine.
The visits consist of a guided walk through the vineyards, followed by a wine tasting, during which the history of Blandy’s, the winemaking tradition of Madeira, and the main technical aspects of viticulture and Madeira Wine production are shared with participants.
The program runs from Tuesday to Saturday, with two daily tours, both conducted in English. The official duration is 90 minutes, though it may extend to about two hours depending on the pace and interaction of the group, always prioritizing a tranquil and personalized experience.
During the morning, the Collection Tour takes place, starting at 11:30 AM. After the vineyard visit, the tasting is held in the garden of Quinta das Malvas and includes six Blandy’s Madeira wines from the Verdelho and Bual grape varieties, aged 5, 10, and 15 years. The experience has a maximum capacity of six people and is accompanied by a pairing board featuring almonds, cashews, cheese, ginger biscuits, honey cake, and dark chocolate.
In the afternoon, at 3:30 PM, the Heritage Tour takes place, which includes a tasting of four Blandy’s Madeira wines from the Sercial, Verdelho, Bual, and Malvasia varieties, all aged 10 years. This visit has a maximum capacity of ten people, and the tasting is accompanied by a selection of almonds, cheese, honey cake, and dark chocolate.
Participants also benefit from a 10% discount voucher for the purchase of Madeira wines aged between three and 15 years at the Wine Shop at Blandy’s Wine Lodge.
Bookings include free cancellation up to 48 hours before the visit. After this deadline, or in case of a no-show, the fee is not refundable. There is also the possibility of arranging private visits, subject to availability, with conditions and prices defined on a case-by-case basis.
Blandy’s also notes that the route takes place on agricultural terrain, with uneven ground and the presence of stairs, recommending the use of comfortable footwear and clothing. The experience is not recommended for people with severe mobility limitations.
More information on schedules, prices, and bookings is available on Blandy’s official website.
