Dalva Opens New Wine Bar on the Gaia Waterfront

Dalva has officially opened Dalva Wine and The City, a new wine bar located on the waterfront of Vila Nova de Gaia, dedicated to showcasing the brand’s Port and Douro DOC wines through a relaxed and contemporary approach.

With stunning views over the River Douro and Porto’s historic Ribeira district, the new venue invites visitors to explore different ways of enjoying wine, whether through informal tastings, food pairings or Port wine-based cocktails.

The name revives a concept first launched by the brand in 2022, when Dalva toured several Portuguese cities with a travelling campaign dedicated to promoting wine, gastronomy and national heritage. Four years later, the initiative has found a permanent home on Gaia’s riverside, becoming a meeting point for wine enthusiasts and visitors alike.

The wine list features 21 Dalva Port Wine references, including Tawny Colheitas, White Ports, Vintage Ports, LBVs and organic wines, alongside Douro DOC wines, sparkling wines, Moscatel, Brandy and cocktails such as the classic Port Tonic. All wines are available by the glass, encouraging guests to explore and discover different styles and profiles.

Unlike traditional tasting formats, Dalva Wine and The City offers a personalised experience without predefined tasting routes. The team provides individual guidance, recommending wines and pairings tailored to each guest’s preferences and interests.

Gastronomy also plays a central role in the concept. The menu was developed by chef José Guedes and focuses on creative sharing plates designed to highlight the characteristics of the wines. Offerings include toasties, skewers, focaccias and desserts, creating a distinctive alternative to the more traditional dining options commonly found along the Gaia waterfront.

According to the chef, the aim was to create a unique gastronomic proposition capable of complementing the wine experience while reinforcing the venue’s relaxed atmosphere. The result is a sharing menu designed to encourage different combinations of wine and food.

With this opening, Dalva strengthens its presence on the Vila Nova de Gaia waterfront and invests in a concept that combines wine, heritage, gastronomy and lifestyle, contributing to the vitality of one of Portugal’s most visited destinations.
