03/07/2026Producer secures 12 awards at the prestigious international competition, including a Trophy for its Moscatel de Setúbal Superior 2010.

Casa Ermelinda Freitas once again stood out at one of the world’s most prestigious wine competitions, securing 12 distinctions at the 2026 edition of the International Wine Challenge (IWC), held in the United Kingdom. Among the highlights was the title of Best Fortified Wine from the Setúbal Peninsula, awarded to Casa Ermelinda Freitas Moscatel de Setúbal Superior 2010.

The wine received a Gold Medal and was further honoured with a Trophy, the competition’s highest distinction, reserved for the best wines within each category. The award further reinforces the international prestige of Moscatel de Setúbal.

In addition, the producer earned two more Gold Medals for Dona Ermelinda Moscatel Roxo 2014 and Quinta de Canivães Reserva DOC 2019. The latter is particularly significant as it represents one of Casa Ermelinda Freitas’ most recent projects in the Douro region, highlighting the success of the company’s expansion into other Portuguese wine-producing areas.

The producer’s performance also included two Silver Medals, awarded to Dona Ermelinda Branco 2024 and Dona Ermelinda Reserva Branco 2024, as well as six Bronze Medals for various wines across its portfolio.

In total, Casa Ermelinda Freitas achieved one Trophy, three Gold Medals, two Silver Medals and six Bronze Medals, in what the company considers to be its best-ever result in this international competition.

Founded in Fernando Pó, in the municipality of Palmela, Casa Ermelinda Freitas has accumulated more than 2,500 national and international awards since 1999. The producer continues to establish itself as one of the most awarded brands in the Portuguese wine industry, strengthening the reputation of its wines in both domestic and international markets through an ongoing commitment to quality, innovation and the promotion of Portuguese grape varieties and wine regions.
