Harvest at Quinta da Atela: An Authentic Experience in the Heart of Ribatejo

During the months of August and September 2025, Quinta da Atela invites all lovers of wine, nature and tradition to experience the ritual of the harvest up close. A special morning in the Ribatejo that promises to live long in the memory.
Harvesting is much more than picking grapes, it’s taking part in one of the most symbolic moments in Portuguese wine culture. And it is precisely this experience that Quinta da Atela, located in the heart of the Ribatejo, is offering its visitors during the months of August and September 2025.
Between 9am and 11.30am, participants are invited to join in this celebration of the land, in a programme that combines tradition, authenticity and direct contact with the vineyard. The morning begins with a tractor ride through the vineyards, where the beautiful scenery of the Ribatejo landscape welcomes you. This is followed by picking the grapes, a time for working and sharing, just like in the old days.
To recover your energy, there’s nothing like a “bucha” served in the middle of the vineyards, accompanied by a tasting of the house wines, which reveals the flavours of the terroir. The tour ends with a visit to the winery and the traditional foot treading, an ancestral gesture that continues to be celebrated as part of the Portuguese wine identity.
