11/07/2025José Maria da Fonseca has just launched the new image of the iconic Aguardente Velha Reserva XO 1964, focusing on a more sophisticated design that reinforces the premium character and historical heritage of this 34-year-old distillate.
José Maria da Fonseca’s emblematic Aguardente Velha Reserva XO 1964 now has a new look, marking a new stage in the history of this exceptional product. The century-old brand from Azeitão has opted for a more contemporary and exclusive design, without losing sight of the prestige and tradition that make this brandy a benchmark in the world of premium spirits.
According to António Maria Soares Franco, the company’s Co-CEO, ‘tradition and innovation must go hand in hand to ensure that our products continue to be relevant and desired by new generations’. The renewal of the image of Aguardente Velha Reserva XO 1964 is therefore seen as a reinforcement of its exclusive identity, capable of captivating new audiences without detracting from its legacy.
Distilled from green wines from the 1964 harvest and aged for 34 years in used oak casks, this brandy is distinguished by its intense golden colour and complex aromatic profile, with notes of dried fruit and wood. On the palate, it reveals elegant nuances of hazelnuts and almonds, with a long and persistent finish.
With an alcohol content of 37 per cent, it is recommended to store it lying down, at a temperature of 15°C and humidity of 60 per cent, and ideally served at 16°C. Its versatility means it can be enjoyed on its own, as an aperitif or paired with desserts and cheeses.
The new image of Aguardente Velha Reserva XO 1964 is already available on the market, reaffirming José Maria da Fonseca’s commitment to preserving the excellence of its products, while adapting to the new times and the demands of consumers who are increasingly attentive to detail.
