Menin acquires Quinta Bulas and reinforces investment in the Douro

The Menin Wine Company has announced the acquisition of Quinta Bulas, located in the Cima Corgo sub-region of the Douro, for 6.5 million euros. With this operation, the company led by Brazilian businessman Rubens Menin now owns a total of 200 hectares in the region, consolidating its presence in one of Portugal’s most prestigious wine-growing areas.
Quinta Bulas has 53 hectares, of which nine are occupied by old vines, bringing the total area of old vines in Menin’s portfolio to over 29 hectares. The property is also distinguished by the presence of the rare Rabigato Moreno grape variety, which until now has been absent from the rest of the group’s estates, contributing to the company’s ampelographic diversity.
Located in a privileged position, facing the River Douro and the mouth of the River Ceira, Quinta Bulas also has great potential for developing wine tourism projects. ‘It’s another terroir of excellence that we’ve added to our portfolio, with enormous oenological and tourist potential,’ says Fásia Braga, general director of the Menin Wine Company.
The acquisition will allow the company to increase its current wine production capacity by more than 30 per cent, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing the Douro territory and the international projection of Portuguese wines.
