Mirabilis Branco 2024 Reinforces the Potential of Great White Wines from the Douro

31/07/2026New vintage from Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo is crafted from high-altitude old vines and highlights elegance, freshness and ageing potential.

Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo has unveiled Mirabilis Branco 2024, the latest vintage of one of the estate’s flagship white wines, produced from old vineyards located at over 500 metres above sea level. The new release reinforces the winery’s vision of the Douro’s potential to produce world-class white wines, with a strong focus on freshness, minerality and exceptional ageing potential.

The wine is sourced from twelve vineyard parcels, all planted with vines over 70 years old, some of them more than a century old, where indigenous grape varieties such as Gouveio and Viosinho predominate. The high-altitude conditions, characterised by cool nights and slow ripening, give Mirabilis Branco remarkable aromatic precision, a silky texture and a distinctive mineral profile.

The 2024 vintage benefited from moderate temperatures, cool nights and rainfall levels close to the seasonal average, allowing for balanced grape ripening and resulting in a wine with vibrant acidity, expressive aromatics and excellent ageing potential.

In the winery, Mirabilis Branco 2024 was vinified using a combination of fermentation and ageing vessels, including new and used French oak barrels, large oak foudres and raw concrete tanks. This approach preserves the purity of the fruit and the expression of the vineyard while adding depth, complexity and balance.

On the nose, the wine reveals aromas of white flowers, orchard fruit and stone fruit, complemented by notes of green tea, wet stone and delicate spices. On the palate, it offers a creamy texture, vibrant acidity, pronounced minerality and a long, persistent finish.

With this new vintage, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo continues to strengthen its commitment to producing outstanding white wines from the Douro, demonstrating the region’s ability to create elegant, gastronomic wines with remarkable ageing potential.
