Pipadouro Launches New Slow Living Experience
17/06/2026New exclusive route combines Douro river cruising, wine, gastronomy and landscape in an intimate and personalised experience.Pipadouro, a benchmark in luxury river tourism on the Douro, has unveiled a new experience as part of its “A Day in the Douro” programme, this time in partnership with Quinta da Gricha, a Churchill’s property, reinforcing its focus on slow living and bespoke luxury tourism.
This new route joins a portfolio of partnerships with some of the region’s most iconic estates, including Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta do Crasto, Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo, Quinta de Ventozelo and Quinta da Romaneira, consolidating Pipadouro’s position as a reference in the creation of exclusive Douro experiences.
Acquired by Churchill’s in 1999 and opened to visitors in 2017, Quinta da Gricha has established itself as a place of immersion in the Douro landscape, where time slows down and the connection to the territory takes centre stage — a philosophy that underpins this new offering.
According to Ana Clara Silva, Pipadouro’s Operations Director, “there are places in the Douro that call for silence and time to be truly experienced. Quinta da Gricha is one of them”, highlighting that this route reinforces the company’s commitment to authentic experiences aligned with contemporary luxury tourism trends.
The experience begins at 11:00am at Pipadouro’s private quay in Pinhão, aboard the classic Pipadouro II, a 1965 Gentleman’s Vintage Boat. The river cruise takes guests along the Douro to Praia do Douro, followed by a transfer to the estate.
At Quinta da Gricha Vineyard House, guests are invited to discover the property through a private tour across terraced vineyards, gardens and historic spaces, including the Pátio das Laranjeiras. The main house, with its classic design and British influence, offers a setting of comfort and tranquillity, featuring leisure areas, an outdoor swimming pool and walking trails through the vineyards.
The experience also includes a traditional Douro lunch, prepared by local cooks and paired with Churchill’s wines, fostering a genuine connection to the region’s gastronomy and culture.
For Ana Pinho, Marketing and Hospitality Director at Churchill’s, the partnership reflects the brand’s vision: “the Douro should be experienced with time — time to walk through the vineyards, enjoy a glass of wine and take in the landscape.”
After lunch, guests return to the quay and continue the river journey back to Pinhão, concluding the experience at around 5:00pm in an atmosphere of exclusivity and serenity.
The Pipadouro Experience by Quinta da Gricha lasts six hours, with prices starting from €750 for up to eight guests on board.
With this new offering, Pipadouro further strengthens its strategy of developing conscious luxury tourism experiences, centred on authenticity, attention to detail and an emotional connection to the territory — where value lies in the quality and intensity of the experiences provided in the Douro.
