Quinta Condes de Valadares to Host the National Wine Tourism Awards 2026
14/04/2026Historic venue in Loures reinforces its position as a leading setting for major industry events.Quinta Condes de Valadares, located in Loures, will host the National Wine Tourism Awards 2026, establishing itself as an emblematic and distinctive venue for major events related to wine, tourism and culture in Portugal. The initiative annually recognises the best projects, companies and professionals standing out in the wine tourism sector across the country.
With origins dating back to the 17th century, Quinta Condes de Valadares carries a heritage deeply rooted in Portuguese nobility, being associated with the title of Count of Valadares, created during the reign of King Pedro II of Portugal and granted to D. Miguel Luís de Meneses following the Restoration of Independence. Over the centuries, it has remained a place of retreat and leisure, preserving its exclusive character and its connection to the land.
Within the estate stands the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Redonda, dating from the 16th century and recently restored, further enhancing the historical, cultural and spiritual value of this unique site.
Acquired by Manuel Ferreirinha in 2013, the estate ,whose buildings required extensive intervention, has undergone a careful restoration process over the years, always respecting its Pombaline layout and 18th-century architecture. This process has preserved its historical identity while adapting it to contemporary demands.
Since September 2023, the estate has been open to the public for events, positioning itself as a venue of excellence for weddings, corporate events and bespoke experiences. The Adega dos Condes stands out for its expansive gardens and capacity to host up to 300 guests.
According to Maria João de Almeida, President of APENO,
“The National Wine Tourism Awards have established themselves as a moment of recognition of the work, dedication and ability to create unique experiences within the sector in Portugal. More than distinguishing projects, people and regions, this gala is an opportunity to reinforce the role of wine tourism in promoting the country, stimulating local economies and enhancing our cultural identity.”
She further adds that,
“the choice of Quinta Condes de Valadares to host the 2026 edition reflects precisely what we stand for: spaces with history, soul and a strong connection to the territory, capable of delivering memorable experiences. It is in these contexts that Portuguese wine tourism finds its strength and ability to stand out.”
The selection of Quinta Condes de Valadares as the venue also strengthens the event’s connection to the Loures region, a municipality where wine tourism has been gaining momentum, highlighted by its proximity to Lisbon and the authenticity of Bucelas wines.
In this context, the estate positions itself not only as an events venue but also as an active agent within the local community, promoting cultural initiatives, regional partnerships and the appreciation of local products and traditions. This commitment is reinforced by the work of the Ferreirinha family, whose connection to the Loures territory spans several years.
With a solid background in hospitality and business, the family has approached the restoration of the estate as a true cultural and heritage project, contributing to the economic and tourism development of the region while fostering an ongoing connection between tradition and innovation.
According to Filipa Ferreirinha, CEO and co-founder,
“Hosting the National Wine Tourism Awards Gala represents, for Quinta Condes de Valadares, the recognition of a journey built on the appreciation of heritage, hospitality and excellence. It is also a unique opportunity to celebrate the very best of Portuguese wine tourism in a space where history and modernity meet. We are extremely proud to open our doors to host such a significant moment for the sector.”
Organised by APENO – Portuguese Association of Wine Tourism, with the support of Turismo de Lisboa and Loures City Council, the initiative is also supported by Gifts4Wine, Âncora Gold, Amorim, Grupo Stosberg (Alug’Aqui and Schott Zwiesel), Abreu Advogados, Biosphere and Viagens Abreu, with media partners SAPO and WineTourismTV.
