Quinta da Lagoalva wins awards at the Tejo Wines Gala

28/07/2025Quinta da Lagoalva, located in Alpiarça, is the big winner at the latest edition of the Tejo Regional Wine Commission (CVR Tejo) awards, winning the title of Winemaker of the Year for Pedro Pinhão and the Best Wine Tourism award in the region, as well as receiving medals for three white wines at the Tejo Wines Gala.

The most recent Vinhos do Tejo Gala was marked by the prominence of Quinta da Lagoalva, which took home some of the main annual prizes awarded by the Tejo Regional Wine Commission. Pedro Pinhão, the estate’s winemaking director, was honoured with the coveted title of Winemaker of the Year, in recognition of his work over more than two decades at the Holstein Campilho family estate.
Located on the south bank of the River Tagus, in Alpiarça, Quinta da Lagoalva was also honoured with the award for Best Wine Tourism in the Tagus Wine Region. This recognition reflects the quinta’s growing focus on wine tourism, which combines cultural offerings, carriage rides and sustainability initiatives, such as the bird observatory on the Paúl property.

As part of the Vinhos do Tejo 2025 competition, the estate shone with three award-winning white wines. Lagoalva Branco 2024 received a Grand Gold medal, standing out among 200 wines and only 11 medals in this category. Lagoalva Reserva Arinto & Chardonnay 2023 and Quinta da Lagoalva Grande Reserva Fernão Pires Branco 2022 were awarded gold medals.
Pedro Pinhão, who was born in Alpiarça and has a degree in Viticulture and Oenology from the Instituto Superior de Agronomia in Lisbon, has also been managing director of the Quinta since 2021. His career includes internships in countries such as Australia, Chile and New Zealand, and a deep connection to the Tagus region, where he also manages the family’s agricultural business.
In addition to wine production, Quinta da Lagoalva is a multifaceted space, where olive oil production, cork extraction and the breeding of cattle and thoroughbred Lusitano horses stand out. The property also offers conditions for corporate and private events, including weddings in its chapel, with activities ranging from lunches and meetings to teambuilding activities and picnics in the middle of nature.
