Quinta da Pedra Alta launches grape harvest programme in the heart of the Douro

29/08/2025Quinta da Pedra Alta, in Soutelinho-Favaios, Cima Corgo do Douro, is offering a grape harvest programme this year that combines tradition, history and wine tourism.

Until the end of September, visitors can take part in the grape harvest, visit the production cellar and enjoy a picnic with house wines, in an experience that celebrates the authenticity of the region.
Located above the River Pinhão, the estate is distinguished by the diversity of altitudes of its vineyards, which vary between 230 and 550 metres, allowing the production of a wide range of styles, from fresh and elegant whites to robust reds and high-quality Port wines.
With a history dating back to the late 18th century, Quinta da Pedra Alta holds a rare heritage: three Pombaline landmarks placed between 1758 and 1761 to demarcate the Douro Demarcated Region. It is believed to be the only estate to have three of these historical symbols, which bear witness to the property’s ancestral connection to the production of excellent wines.

After a period of reduced investment, the winery was acquired in 2018 by its current owners, who invested in a thorough renovation of the vineyards, the winery and the brand, strengthening the estate’s reputation under the guidance of winemaker João Pires. More recently, the property received the certification seal of the national sustainability benchmark in the wine sector, confirming its commitment to responsible and forward-looking practices.
The harvest programme now on offer runs until the end of September and includes participation in the grape harvest, a guided tour of the production winery and a picnic paired with Pedra a Pedra wines, in a setting that combines wine-making tradition with Douro hospitality. For those looking for an even more immersive experience, there is the possibility of participating in grape treading, evoking one of the most emblematic practices of the Douro. The programme costs €100 per person, plus €50 for those who opt for traditional treading.
