Symington proposes Douro and Alentejo wines to celebrate the festive season

26/12/2025Symington Family Estates presents a selection of Douro and Alentejo wines designed for toasting the festive season, featuring references of still wines and Port wine, as well as a gastronomic experience that combines wine tourism and fine dining in Porto.

This Christmas, Symington Family Estates invites you to celebrate with a selection of wines that reflect the diversity and quality of the Douro and Alentejo regions. From still wines to classic Ports, the Symington family’s proposal aims to suit different moments of sharing, whether at the table, as a gift, or for marking special occasions during the festive season.

Among the still wines, the standouts are the Bom Malandro Branco and Bom Malandro Tinto references, produced from traditional Douro grape varieties, with grapes from vineyards located in the Cima Corgo region. The Bom Malandro Branco exhibits an aromatic profile marked by tropical fruit and subtle vanilla notes, presenting fresh and balanced on the palate. The Bom Malandro Tinto reveals aromas of red berries and floral nuances, with a full-bodied, velvety, and very harmonious profile.

From the Alentejo, Symington suggests the wines from Quinta da Fonte Souto in Portalegre. The Quinta da Fonte Souto Tinto expresses the characteristics of the Serra de São Mamede terroir, combining freshness, concentration, and structure, a result of the altitude and the composition of the grape varieties used. The proposal also includes the Quinta da Fonte Souto Rosé, made from a small experimental lot of the Aragonez variety, with a minimalist winemaking approach that favors freshness and aromatic expression.

In the world of Port wine, the selection includes Cockburn’s Special Reserve, a historic reference that gave rise to a new category of Port, aged in oak vats and known for its fruity profile and dry finish. The proposal is complemented by Cockburn’s 10 Year Old Tawny, aged in cask for about a decade, which stands out for its aromas of candied fruit, caramel, and notes of honey and vanilla, being particularly recommended to accompany desserts.

In addition to the wines, Symington also presents the gastronomic experience “From the Cask to the Kitchen” (Do Casco à Cozinha), developed in partnership with the Sagardi Porto restaurant. The proposal includes a guided tour of the Cockburn’s aging warehouse in Vila Nova de Gaia, with a Port wine tasting, followed by a tasting lunch at the restaurant, uniting wine and gastronomy in an experience designed for the Christmas season.

The suggested wines are available in major national wine shops and supermarkets, while the wine and gastronomy experience can be booked online, subject to prior booking.
