Ventozelo Expands Wine Tourism Offering with New Picnic Experiences in the Douro

Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta has expanded its wine tourism offering with a new outdoor picnic experience, inviting guests and visitors to enjoy the stunning Douro landscape from five exclusive locations spread across the estate’s more than 400 hectares.

Created to celebrate the arrival of summer, the experience offers carefully prepared picnic spots set among forests, vineyards and the banks of the Douro River, allowing visitors to discover different perspectives of the estate while enjoying the tranquillity and natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The picnic baskets are prepared daily by the team at Cantina de Ventozelo and feature a selection of regional specialities, fresh fruit and vegetables grown on the estate, accompanied by wines produced at Quinta de Ventozelo. Inspired by the traditional meals once enjoyed by vineyard workers, the food is served in classic lunch tins, celebrating the authentic flavours and culinary heritage of the Douro.

Beyond the gastronomic experience, each of the five picnic locations has been equipped to ensure guests’ comfort, with tables, chairs, blankets and access to restroom facilities, creating the perfect setting to relax, admire the scenery or even enjoy a swim in the Douro River.

The experience is available by prior reservation and can be enjoyed by both hotel guests and day visitors, reinforcing Ventozelo Hotel & Quinta’s strategy of expanding its range of experiences connected to the region. Visitors can also combine the picnic with walking trails, wine tastings or cycling tours, offering a deeper exploration of the estate and the Douro Valley.
